The final chicane isn’t the only area of action at the circuit. The wall has claimed many greats over the years, including Michael Schumacher, Damon Hill and Sebastian Vettel. Additionally, on the exit of the final chicane is the infamous Wall of Champions. These include Robert Kubica’s only win in 2008, Sebastian Vettel’s controversial penalty in last years’ race and Jenson Button’s unforgettable victory in the wet in 2011, which was the longest race in F1 history. First added to the season calendar in 1979, it has become a mainstay and has provided many memorable moments. The track regularly provides amazing races, full of overtakes and incidents. Long straights, tricky chicanes and walls lining the track all help to make the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve a great venue. The track is built on a man-made island on the Saint Lawrence River
